Day Conference & Celebration Eucharist

Join us for a Day Conference - ‘Hope of our Calling’ on the 8th November at Great St Mary’s Church, Cambridge, followed on the 9 November with a Eucharist in Celebration of 30 Years of Women’s Priestly Ministry at Ely Cathedral.

Day Conference - ‘Hope of our Calling’

Join us for a stimulating programme of keynote addresses and talks to encourage the whole church to respond joyfully to God’s call.

8 November Great St Mary’s Church, Cambridge

30 years into women’s priestly ministry we focus in on women’s voices and the fruit of their work today, in ministry, scholarship and creativity.

Speakers include:

  • the Revd Dr Isabelle Hamley, first woman Principal of Ridley Hall,
  • the Revd Dr Victoria Johnson, first woman Dean of St John’s College, Cambridge, and
  • the Right Revd Dr Rosemarie Mallett, Bishop of Croydon.

Special guests also include Dr Christina Rees, Director of the Li Tim-Oi Foundation; and archivists from Lambeth Palace Library presenting aspects of their current exhibition Women and the Church of England – Lambeth Palace Library

All are welcome. Bring your stories; leave with our song of hope renewed.

Sandwich lunch provided. If you are clergy or an LLM licensed to the diocese of Ely the conference is free, as the day is also a Bishop’s Study Day. There will be an opportunity on the website booking form to give this information for your free place.

Music sung by Ely Cathedral’s girl choristers, conducted by Sarah MacDonald

Celebratory refreshments will be served after the service in the Lady Chapel.

There will be stalls from the Li Tim Oi Foundation (named for the first woman priest in the Anglican Communion) and the Lambeth Palace archivists who compiled the current exhibition in Lambeth Palace Library Women and the Church of England.

A short video will be shown in the Lady Chapel after the service, interviewing some of our own Diocese’s first cohort of women entering priestly ministry.
