Children’s and Families Missioner, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire

The Parochial Church Council of the Parish of Huntingdon is seeking a Children’s and Families Missioner, to be based in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire on an initial three-year contract (fixed-term).

Would you like to use your gifts to develop the Christian community’s capacity to engage with and grow faith amongst children and their families in Huntingdon? Do you have a background or skills that will help you lead in reaching out into our town in both established and new ways?

The Diocese of Ely is investing £4.36 million in the region's market towns. We want to see whole towns transformed through the love of God. The Changing Market Towns project focusses on enabling and sustaining church growth in small and medium-sized towns, significantly enhancing the Diocese’s ability to realise its desire to engage, grow and deepen our commitment to God through word, worship and prayer.

It is far-reaching and ambitious, and an expression of our faith in the power of God – are you ready to be part of this exciting future?

The Anglican parish of Huntingdon is staffed by the Vicar and an Associate Minister. Through the Changing Market Towns initiative, we have employed an Operations Manager, a Children’s and Families Missioner, and a Youth Worker. We now seek an exceptional and inspiring individual to join this team and help realise our aims in Huntingdon.

Purpose of the Role

  • This role will focus on reaching out to children and their families in the town.
  • Using your gifts, you will build on existing work to engage with – and bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to – children and their families. This will include – but is not limited to - strengthening and developing existing relationships with local primary schools; coordinating children’s ministry on Sunday mornings; leading and developing Footsteps (our weekly group for 0-4s and their parents / carers); running after-school and holiday clubs.
  • Through these engagements, and through other activities that will be discovered together, you will grow faith amongst children and their families by working with others to develop and create places and events that will mature into new worshipping communities.

Does this unique opportunity appeal to you? If so, we look forward to receiving an application from you.
