Initial Ministerial Education Phase 2 (IME2)

Curate Training

IME2 is the programme of training and formation for curates following their ordination. Newly-ordained ministers usually serve in a title post for three years, one year as deacon and two as priest, under the supervision of their Training Incumbent.

In Ely Diocese much of the training is ‘on the job’ learning, within the framework of a Working and Learning Agreement which provides hands-on experience of the workings of a parish/chaplaincy.

Curates are also expected to attend a programme of training days provided by the diocese through the Ministry team. These events build on their pre-ordination training and include a wide variety of subjects related to the House of Bishops 'Learning Outcomes' and locally agreed training agendas.
