Retired Clergy Officer

The Revd Canon David Paul Pritchard, currently Diocesan Retired Clergy Officer, is stepping down from this role on 31 December 2023, after 11 years of service. David is remaining in the Diocese of Ely and holds Bishop’s Permission to Officiate.

The Bishop of Ely is pleased to announce that The Revd Petros H Nyatsanza, most recently Trust Chaplain of Bedfordshire, Luton and Dunstable University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, is now Lead Chaplain at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust (Peterborough City Hospital, Hinchingbrooke Hospital and Stamford Hospital).


RIP - Rev Julian Thomson

We are sorry to hear of the death on Monday 2 January 2023 of Revd Julian Thomson, who was Precentor at Ely Cathedral before serving in the parishes of Orwell, Wimpole, Arrington and Croydon; then at Linton, Bartlow, Shudy and Castle Camps.

Retirement announcement - The Revd Keith Charles Morrison

The Revd Keith Charles Morrison, currently Chaplain for the Arthur Rank Hospice is retiring from this role on 6 January 2023. However, Keith will continue to hold Public Preacher licence for the role as Bishop's Advisor on Healthcare and Chaplaincy.

Retirement announcement - The Revd Christopher Murray Hill

The Revd Christopher (Chris) Murray Hill, Team Rector of the Ely Team Ministry, is retiring after 10 years of Ministry in the Diocese of Ely, on 30 April 2023, which is also his last Sunday in the Benefice.


RIP Fr. Geoffrey Dobson

We are sorry to hear that Fr. Geoffrey Dobson, a valued member of the parish of All Saints, St Ives, died on 24th November 2022. There will be a Requiem Mass at All Saints on Wed 14th December at 13:00.

We are pleased to announce that the Revd Mandy Carol Flaherty, currently Rector of North Leightonstone Benefice, has been appointed as Vicar of the Benefice of Harston, Hauxton and Newton. Her last working day in North Leightonstone Benefice will be Sunday 19th March 2023.

The Bishop of Ely is pleased to announce that the Revd Dr Richard Arthur Hines, a retired clergy who holds Bishop's Permission to Officiate, has accepted the Bishop's invitation to be Rural Dean for Wisbech Lynn Marshland in succession to the Revd Nigel Whitehouse. The Archdeacon of Huntingdon and Wisbech will commission Richard at the Deanery Synod meeting on 24 November 2022.
