We are delighted to announce the appointment of Chris Stanford-Beale as our next Chair of Ely Diocesan Board of Finance (EDBF).
The Diocese of Ely has undertaken an initial Review and, as a result, the Bishop has decided to suspend the churchwarden at Wiggenhall St. Mary Magdalene, with immediate effect.
The Revd Joel Gregory Wicks, currently Assistant Curate in Hampton has been appointed Associate Minister, Totton & Calmore in the Diocese of Winchester. He will be licensed to his new role on 17 September 2025.
The Reverend Jonathan (Jon) Aubrey Randall currently Rector of the Huntingdon Benefice will be leaving on 19 October 2025, after 19 years serving in the Diocese of Ely. Jon’s last Sunday in the Parish will be 28th September.
The Revd William James Andrew Henry Lyon Tupman, currently Assistant Curate in training in Sawston and Babraham (held in plurality) has been appointed a Team Vicar of the Cottesloe Benefice in the Diocese of Oxford. He will be licensed to his new role on 15 September 2025.
The Reverend Canon Rebecca (Becky) Mary Dyball currently Rector of the Fen Edge Churches Benefice (Sawtry, Glatton and Holme with Conington) and Assistant Director of Ordinands and Vocations Adviser in the Diocese of Ely has been appointed as Bishop’s Missioner in the Peterborough Diocese.

The Acting Bishop of Ely is pleased to announce that The Revd Jeanine Bossy, currently Assistant Curate in the Parish of Cherry Hinton, will be leaving on 20 September 2025 to begin training as a Chaplain in the Royal Air Force.
The Revd Dr Janet Constance Bunker, currently Team Vicar, in the Ascension Benefice, Cambridge is retiring, after 18 years of service, on 23 November 2025.
We were sorry to hear of the death on 11th May 2025 at the age 84 of The Rev’d Howard Clive Bigg and remember his wider family in our prayers.

We were sorry to hear of the death on 7th July 2025 of Rev’d Edwin John Penny, John. We offer John’s wife Diana and the family our sympathy, love and prayers in their bereavement.
We were sorry to learn this week of the death of the former Bishop of Ely, The Rt Revd Dr Anthony Russell. Dr Russell served Ely Diocese from 2000 to 2010, as well as making a notable contribution to the national church's thinking about rural ministry.
