St Peter's Church upgrades and modernises facilities

At various times during the pandemic, we at St. Peter’s Church, Yaxley have had to close our doors; stopping services, groups and events, in order to keep our community safe.

Despite these closures we have continued to work on preparing for the future of our church, and for our community, in many ways.

We are currently nearing completion on a major project to upgrade and modernise our facilities in church.

We now have a new servery, which we look forward to using to serve refreshments at services, groups, meetings and events in the near future.

We also have an additional upper room which will be used for the young people in our community and for meetings and small groups.

It’s also exciting to announce that we now have three toilets (one with disabled access), hopefully putting an end to those long queues at big services and events!

St. Peter’s Church is a warm, welcoming and lively faith community who aim to be accessible and supportive to all. It is our hope that these facilities will enable us to continue to expand our role in the local community and provide a welcome for those moving into the area as the development of Greater Haddon takes place.

We give thanks to all those in our community who have helped us raise funds, through donations, applying for grants, the organising of fundraising events and to all those who attended fundraising events. The Partridge Legacy fund also contributed towards the project, for which we are very grateful.

We give particular thanks to the organisations who have supported us with grants, discounts or loans. Without the generosity of the following organisations this project would not have been possible.

  • Allchurches Trust
  • Amey Community Fund
  • The Augean Community Fund
  • Cambridgeshire Historic Churches Trust
  • Fenland Stoneworks
  • Garfield Weston Foundation
  • Hobart UK
  • RB Organics

All of this support has enabled the work to be carried out in a way that complements our beautiful Grade 1 listed church by John Lucas (Peterborough) Ltd and their subcontractors. On behalf of the church, and the local community, we thank everyone involved.

Once the project is formally completed, we will be holding a service to dedicate the new facilities; we do hope you will be able to join us to celebrate and to take a look around. We look forward to welcoming you soon.
