Business leaders, religious leaders, chaplains and supporters came together for a select afternoon tea event organised by Cambridgeshire Workplace Chaplaincy who seek to promote the value of a chaplaincy, the listening ear in workplaces.
Now in their 2nd year, the charity is seeking to build on its support from local businesses to offer more people the opportunity to receive the necessary help from which to develop a secure mental, physical and spiritual base in the workplace. Speaking at the event, Chair Alastair Reid commented that “All workers deserve to be supported in the workplace and chaplaincy offers both employees and employers an extra level of support. We’re also actively working out ways we can increase this support to serve the self-employed who do not have an HR resource to turn to”.
Professor Clive Morton, Vice Chair summarised research he carried out on spirituality in the workplace and the increasing responsibility that employers need to take to address this as part of the overall health and wellbeing of their employees with the clear relation to positive mental health.
Cambridgeshire Workplace Chaplaincy continue to develop its programme of activities and is keen to hear from both potential businesses interested in the service as well as chaplains looking to support more individuals. For further information see www.cambsworkplacechaplaincy.org.uk
