A Diocese of Ely School Singing Project collaboration between St Peter & St Paul Wisbech, Elm Road Primary School and the Choir of St Catharine's College Cambridge recently took part in an abbreviated Choral Evensong in the College Chapel.
A choir of fourteen children aged between 8-10 years from Elm Road Primary School in Wisbech, accompanied by some parents, staff and church representatives travelled by coach (which was paid for by a local charity) to Cambridge, to take part in the abbreviated Choral Evensong in the College Chapel.
"The children were marvellous, and all enjoyed an exciting and interesting time".
The Incumbent of St Peter & St Paul, Revd Canon Matthew Bradbury added:
"Our partnership has been going since 2019 to offer children from a Wisbech primary school the opportunity to sing with some of East Anglia's finest adult choristers, under the kindly baton of Dr Wickham. Over the past four years, several cohorts of children have had the significant privilege and unforgettable opportunity of learning how to sing as members of a choir and of experiencing the beauties of Anglican music at first hand. Our forthcoming trip to Cambridge, to sing Evensong with the choristers of St Catharine’s, is 'the icing on the cake'."
Warm congratulations to St Peter & St Paul Wisbech, Elm Road Primary School and Catharine's College Cambridge for the work involved in keeping this Project alive and in doing so giving the children this wonderful opportunity to delight in music.
