The Home Office is announcing the launch of two schemes to provide protective security at places of worship.
- Places of Worship Security Funding Scheme
- Protective Security for Mosques Scheme
An application can be made via the following link: Protective security schemes for places of worship. Please note that the same application portal is used for both schemes.
Through these schemes, places of worship can apply for measures such as CCTV, secure fencing, and intruder alarms to be installed at their site to improve security against hate crime. All measures provided by the schemes will be supplied and installed free of charge. This year, Mosques are also able to apply for the provision of security guarding services.
The application portal is open from 21 June 2023 until 15 August 2023. Applications received after this date will not be able to be considered. For more information concerning eligibility, further details on what the schemes cover, the application process and supporting guidance, please visit: Protective security schemes for places of worship
Additionally, there will be upcoming events promoting the launch of these schemes, which faith-based community representatives are welcome to attend.
