Bishops Stephen and Dagmar urge all people across the Diocese of Ely to pray for the people of Ukraine faced with the horrors of warfare, for those already fleeing their homes, injured, killed or bereaved, for those fearing untold suffering ahead.
We pray for all who take decisions around the world, for the strengthening of all who work for peace, and for the people and leaders of Russia too.
Let us in our prayers also remember Ukrainians and Russians living among us in the UK, and pray for God’s Spirit on the churches in Ukraine and Russia.
May God have mercy on us all.
Together with our Archbishops Justin and Stephen, we invite you
- to make this Sunday, 27 February, a day of prayer for peace;
- on Tuesday 1 March at 6pm (GMT) to pray with the Diocese in Europe for the chaplaincy in Kyiv and the churches that serve Ukraine; and
- to participate with the wider church in Pope Francis’s call to make Ash Wednesday, 2 March, a day of prayer and fasting for peace.
