Over 50 Worshippers of all ages from across the eight parishes of Wissey Valley Benefice gathered in Whittington by the river Wissey for this year’s riverside Songs of Praise on Sunday 30th July.
Despite the weather being a bit wet, everyone managed to get a seat under the marquee along with local organist Chris Young who was accompanying with his organ and everyone sang heartily their choices of favourite hymns and worship songs.
After spiritual refreshment, there was further refreshment with delightful cakes tea, coffee and even a glass of Pimms (the service was also advertised as Hymns and Pimms!) and there was a fundraising raffle for Christ-Church, which celebrates 150 years of local witness next year. It was a great opportunity for fellowship.
Thanks were given to all who made it such an enjoyable event and of course to the Revd Dr Ian Mack for leading us to sing God’s praises.
