Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) takes place each year on 27 January
It’s not too early to begin planning for Holocaust Memorial Day 2024, which falls on Saturday, 27 January. On Thursday 5 October at 4pm (BST) the outreach team at the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust (HMDT) will present new resources for activity organisers across the country to use for Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) 2024. These new resources have been created to support and enable individuals and communities to mark HMD in different and innovative ways. We will be joined by Holocaust survivor Yvonne Bernstein to hear about the importance of sharing survivor testimony, and you will also hear from HMD activity organisers about how they have used HMDT resources in their HMD activities. If you are planning to mark HMD 2024, please join us for what promises to be an inspiring and interactive online event by registering at this link: HMD 2024 Resource Launch
Holocaust Memorial Day Trust (HMDT) encourages remembrance in a world scarred by genocide. We promote and support Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) – the international day on 27 January to remember the 6 million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, alongside the millions of other people murdered under Nazi persecution of other groups and during more recent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.
27 January marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp.
