Beth Georgiou, Anna Chaplain in the Diocese of Ely, and a team at St Mary’s Church, Ely organised their first ever Anna Chaplaincy event - a Harvest Festival, celebrating all things Apple-related.
There was much enthusiasm about the event from the 90 or so older people who bought tickets, with many asking what was planned next? Guests included some residents at the Care Homes that the Anna Chaplaincy team visits. The event started in church with a traditional service led by the Revd Stephen Leeke, singing some favourite harvest hymns. Next the festivities moved into the church hall for a sit down feast and to meet friends old and new.
Beth told us "With Apple pie, Apple crumble, Apple Charlotte, Apple streusel and even a glass of cider on offer, the event also raised over £600 for one of their church charities: smokeless cookstoves in Nepal."
