A message from Bishop Stephen
I can now announce that dear Anna’s funeral will take place at the Cathedral on Wednesday, 26th April at 12.30pm. The Very Reverend Dr Jeffrey John will preach. I shall preside, assisted by Cathedral clergy.
Please respond to this email address (replies@elycathedral.org) if you intend to attend and robe. Clergy are invited to robe in cassock and surplice or cotta with a black or purple stole.
I am conscious that Stephen and all of us who have deep affection for Anna are living through a long period of waiting in which we are praying to come to terms with the manner of her death as well as our acute loss.
In a sermon Anna spoke about being our changed by crucified Love looking at us, drawing us to offer our love-broken hearts to Christ in the costly love of one another. Anna now sees that Love face to face.
Whether we can be there in person or not, we shall be united in offering our love and our sorrow, confident in God’s grace and mercy. May Anna rest in peace and rise in glory.
