The Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme (LPWGS) refunds VAT spent on repairs and alterations to listed places of worship. It has been running for many years, but it has been guaranteed only until March 2026, and a cap has been introduced from April 2025.
Harlow Consulting have been commissioned by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to evaluate the Scheme, and have issued a survey for places of worship to complete.
Our Historic Church Buildings Support Officer, Holly Robinson, has spoken to the consultant and can assure you this survey is well worth completing. Please give as much detail as possible and remember to note the impact the scheme has on you too, or rather what impact the loss of the scheme could have if you were required to raise more locally, apply to numerous other grant giving organisations and potentially scale back, phase or abandon key projects.
We need as many churches as possible to participate, no matter how modest the claim to the LPWGS might have been.
The survey will remain open for completion until Tuesday 25 March.
