An event for Black History Month
Black History Month has been observed since 1987 and it aims to celebrate and honour the contributions and struggles of people of African and Caribbean heritage have made to British and global society. For Black History Month this October we have an opportunity to raise a positive awareness about Black History by sending you a warm invitation to join Professor Victoria Avery (Fitzwilliam Museum, University of Cambridge), Dawnanna Kreeger (independent researcher) & Dr Carol Brown-Leonardi (Open University) at this event for Black History Month. They will discuss their archival research into the biographies of Olaudah Equiano’s Ely-born, Soham-resident wife, Susannah Cullen (1762–1796) & their Soham-born daughters, Anna Maria Vassa (1793–1797) & Joanna Vassa (1795–1857).
