Find out how to foster wild flowers in your churchyard, how to calculate your church’s carbon footprint, or how church buildings can improve their sustainability – these are just a few of the workshop topics offered at the Eco-Church online conference on Saturday 18th June.
The half-day Zoom conference is hosted by the six cathedrals in the east of England specifically to help churches to play their part in helping to achieve the Church of England’s goal of ‘net carbon zero by 2030’. Anyone is welcome to attend but clergy, churchwardens, parochial church council members and churchgoers are particularly welcome.
The workshop leaders and topics are:
- Andria Gilpin of Caring for God’s Acre about managing Churchyards
- Caroline Pomeroy of Climate Stewards about calculating your church’s carbon footprint
- Canon Imogen Nay of Chelmsford Cathedral about green spirituality and Muddy Church
- Alexander Cassidy of Christian Aid about the prophetic voices of children and young people
- Godfrey Armitage of Coventry Diocese and A Rocha about introducing the EcoChurch scheme
- Nigel Walter, Conservation Architect about how church buildings can be more sustainable
This is the second annual conference as part of the Sustaining God’s Creation initiative, which aims to support individuals and churches in finding ways to live more sustainably. The first conference was held in 2021 and had a focus on food and farming.
Attendance at the conference is free of charge but registration in advance is essential. Workshop choices will be requested when the Zoom link is sent out to everyone who has registered prior to the event.
