After almost 6 years with the Diocese of Ely, Sue Dickinson will be retiring on 11 February.
In her role as Assistant DAC Secretary and Grants Adviser, Sue has helped many churches in the Diocese to negotiate what can be a very winding path towards getting new facilities installed into church buildings.
She has always done this with good humour and empathy for the situation of each church and PCC. Her knowledge and experience will be very difficult to replace, but we have all learned much from Sue over the years.
Sue adds: “It was not an easy decision to go, as I have found this to be a wonderful place to work.
I have met some lovely people on the DAC and around the parishes and dealt with a fascinating array of projects to repair and bring facilities to the fabulous collection of buildings our PCCs are tasked with caring for.
I have also been blessed with great colleagues and I will miss my friends in the Church Buildings Team immensely. Pre-pandemic, when we were all able to work ‘normally’ at Bishop Woodford House, there was great camaraderie and team spirit in our little group, which we have done our best to maintain remotely and I intend to keep in touch with them.
But I have a very elderly mother and looking after her as well as doing the job has become increasingly difficult, so I have decided to make the break and hope I will be able to pursue some other interests which I have not had time for in recent years.
I’d like to thank everyone at the Diocese, the DAC and around the parishes for making the last few years so very special I wish you all well and hope many of you will keep in touch.”
