Last year, the Cathedrals Measure 2021 received royal assent following its passage through the General Synod of the Church of England and Parliament. The Measure introduces significant reforms to the governance of cathedrals.
The key features of the new Measure are:
- A simplified governance structure.
- Registered charity status.
- Modernised constitutional arrangements.
To prepare for implementing the Measure, the Cathedral have prepared a draft Constitution and draft Statutes. The Constitution will be the new governing document of the Cathedral, and the Statutes set out further detail on how the Cathedral is to operate. These are now offered for public consultation.
