This weekend, we welcomed 3 newly licensed lay ministers (Victoria, Russell and Catherine), admitted 2 licensed lay ministers from other Dioceses (Kevin and Moira), and collectively celebrated 564 years of licensed lay ministry across the Diocese of Ely, with long service awards ranging from 3 to 60 years.
Our service for licensing and admission of Licensed Lay Ministers (LLMs) in the Diocese of Ely took place on Saturday 5 October 2024. You can watch a recording of the service, which was live streamed from Ely Cathedral, on the Cathedral YouTube Channel.
We welcomed, admitted and licensed 3 new LLMs - Victoria Goodman, Russell Harris and Catherine Price. As well as this, Kevin Powell and Moira Saunders were licensed as LLMs from other Dioceses.
We also celebrated 8 of our LLMs receiving the John Hullock Award - Sarah Rittman, Helen Jackson, Katrina Myers, Ingrid Randall, David Grummett, Mark Walsh, Jane Brooks and Susan Grant - have all completed their first three years as an LLM.
In addition, celebrating 25+ years of ministry in the Diocese of Ely were Ruth Bond, Christina Deacon, Carol Swain, Harvey Marshall, Cyril Harris, Trevor Thorn, Pat Smith, Mary Hurst, Di Gunton and Alison Rose.
Susan Waters and Gerald Barrett celebrated 35+ years of ministry, David Ford, Stephen Brooker, Keith Cox and Alan Wakely celebrated 40+ years and Mark Wright celebrated 60+ years of serving as an LLM in the diocese.
