Bishop of Ely would like to inform that The Revd Shirley Susan Holder, currently Assistant Curate at St Mary the Great with St Michael, Cambridge will move from being Licensed Clergy to holding Bishop's Permission to Officiate effective from 1st June 2023.

The Bishop of Ely is pleased to announce that The Revd Patrick John McEune, currently Rector of the Binbrook Group, St Mary and St Gabriel including Kelstern, Ludford Magna, Swinhope, Thorganby and Wold Newton in the Diocese of Lincoln is to be Incumbent (Rector) of The Raddesley Group of Parishes including St Mary's Brinkley, St Augustine's Burrough Green, St Peter's Carlton, St Mary's Dullingham, St Peter's Stetchworth, St Mary the less Westley Waterless in the Diocese of Ely.
Following the retirement of Steve Mashford as Warden of Readers in our Diocese after his dedicated service, I am delighted to announce that Cathy Watts, LLM, has agreed to take on this role.
The Revd Lucy Eleanor Cleland, currently Team Vicar of the 5Folds Team Ministry has been appointed Chaplain to the Bishop of Bristol. Her last Sunday in the Benefice is 16 July (last day 19 July). Lucy will be licensed in the Diocese of Bristol on 20 July 2023.
We are pleased to announce that the Revd Canon Matthew Laurence Bradbury, Incumbent of St Peter and St Paul and St Augustine Wisbech, accepted the invitation to be Chaplain to the new High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire for April 2023 - March 2024, Dr Bharat Khetani. He started this role on 5 April 2023.
The Revd Rachel Claire Rosborough, currently Vicar of Grantchester and St Mark's Newnham as well as Rural Dean for the Cambridge South deanery is stepping down from these roles. Rachel's last Sunday in the Benefice will be 30 July and her last day 31 August.
The Bishop of Ely is pleased to announce that The Revd Sarah Rachel Tan, who currently holds Permission to Officiate in the Diocese of Ely, is now Managing Chaplain at HMP Littlehey Prison.
The Reverend Edward John Gerald Keene, currently Assistant Curate at All Saints Church, Little Shelford in the Diocese of Ely, has been appointed as Rector of the Benefice of Stevenage St Nicholas and Graveley in the Diocese of St Albans. His last Sunday in the Benefice will be 28 May 2023 and the last day in the role 18 June 2023.
I can now announce that dear Anna's funeral will take place at the Cathedral on Wednesday, 26th April at 12.30pm. The Very Reverend Dr Jeffrey John will preach. I shall preside, assisted by Cathedral clergy.
The Revd David Bagnall, currently assistant curate in St Mary the Great with St Michael, Cambridge (Self Supporting Minister) and Assistant Chaplain, Emmanuel College has been appointed as Associate Rector in St John's, Princes Street, in the Diocese of Edinburgh. His last day in the Benefice will be 21 May 2023 and he will be licensed in his new post on 22 June 2023.
We are pleased to announce that the Bishop of Ely will license, on 2 May 2023, The Revd Dr Helen Caire Orchard, as Chaplain- Fellow of Christ's College, Cambridge. Helen is currently Team Vicar of Wimbledon in the Diocese of Southwark.
The Revd Peter (Pete) Williams, currently curate in Bluntisham cum Earith with Colne and Holywell cum Needingworth (Self Supporting Minister) has been appointed Priest-in-Charge of Kingsclere with Ashford Hill and Headley in the Winchester Diocese. His last day in the Benefice will be 30 April 2023.
The Bishop of Ely is pleased to announce that the Revd James Douglas Geoffrey Shakespeare, Vicar of St John the Evangelist, Cambridge, Bishop’s Spirituality Adviser and Assistant Diocesan Director of Ordinands is also to be the Interim Archdeacon of Cambridge, from 11 April until 4 July 2023, to cover The Ven Dr Alexander (Alex) Hughes’, Archdeacon of Cambridge sabbatical leave.
