Bishop Rod Thomas, the Bishop of Maidstone, retires in October. During his time in office so far, he has given himself generously to parishes in the Diocese, not least considering his nation-wide responsibilities. Conspicuous fruit of this generosity has been a significant numbers of confirmands. Bishop Stephen is delighted to announce that Bishop Rod has accepted his invitation to remain an active Assistant Bishop of the Diocese at least until Bishop Rod’s successor, (who will bear the title, The Bishop of Ebbsfleet, but will continue to occupy the same role), is fully operational. In the meantime, Bishop Stephen hopes to attend Bishop Rod’s leaving service in London on 1 October.
