We are very sad to announce the death of The Revd Dr Jennifer (Jenny) Anne Gage.
Jenny experienced a renewed call to ministry in her mid-50s, it is at this time she was worshipping at Ely Cathedral. In 2009, she was ordained deacon in Ely Cathedral, followed by ordination as a priest in 2010. She was formerly Associate Priest in Haddenham with Wilburton, Witchford and Wentworth and joined the Cathedral community in July 2019, as a Self-Supporting Minister for Social Justice, a role she combined with being the Bishop’s Officer for Self-Supporting Ministry in Ely Diocese, serving on the Clergy Wellbeing Forum.
She cared deeply about the environment and social justice, contributing in many ways to the Cathedral and wider community, and was a leading member of Chapter’s environment working group, working on many projects and initiatives as well as with the Beekeepers.
She will be greatly missed, and we pray for Andrew and her children and their families in these difficult times.
Jenny’s funeral will take place at 2pm on Friday 7 October 2022 here at Ely Cathedral. Jenny’s family are asking that people don’t send flowers in accordance with Jenny’s ecological convictions, but if they wanted to remember her they might give instead to these charities in her memory: A Rocha, International Justice Mission (A Christian anti-trafficking charity, Ely Food Bank.
May she rest in peace and rise in glory.
