We are sad to announce the death of Fr Robin Blackall, who died peacefully at home on the evening of Sunday 18th April, following an illness.
Robin was ordained in 1969 and served in the Dioceses of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich, Chelmsford, and Peterborough, and as a prison chaplain, before coming to Ely in 1995 as Diocesan Rural Mission Officer and Priest-in-Charge of Upwell and Outwell, then as Priest-in-Charge of Barton Bendish with Beachamwell and Shingham, Wereham, and Boughton, before retiring in 2001. In retirement he held Permission to Officiate in Ely and Norwich dioceses.
The Archdeacon of Huntingdon and Wisbech notes how Robin was greatly loved by the congregations and communities he served, his open and evident spirituality, describing him as one of the church’s “characters”. We give thanks for Robin’s life and ministry, praying for Pippa and the family, and for Robin that he may rest in peace and rise in glory.
