3 February 2020
Judith's family have informed us that her funeral will take place on Wednesday 26th February at 12 noon, at St Peter's, Upwell, followed by Cremation at March Crematorium. They have been keen to emphasise that all are welcome to attend both the funeral service and the crematorium. The Wake will be held at the Crown Lodge Hotel. It will be family flowers only, but donations can be made in support of the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre. Dress is invited to be smart/casual and not necessarily black.
I write with the sad news that following a period of illness, Judith Skelton died peacefully on Saturday afternoon.
Judith will more recently be remembered for her work as Head of School Performance in the diocesan education team - a role which she performed with characteristic professionalism and good humour. She also had a long and distinguished career as a headteacher in London and Cambridgeshire, running highly successful schools and changing lives in some of the most challenging localities.
Those of us lucky enough to work with Judith as a colleague and a friend will know that she would want us to be positive in her memory; In fact I am certain she would be telling us to put on a Rod Stewart album (and play it loudly!), count our blessings ,and keep having high expectations of ourselves and our children. This was her mantra, and I am sure that you will join me in remembering her in your thoughts and prayers as a source of strength. That is what she would have wanted.
Her husband and daughter have asked me to pass on to you their thanks for all the support Judith and her family have received during her illness and following this weekend.
Details of funeral arrangements will be communicated as they unfold, as an open invitation will be made from her family.
Best wishes,
Andrew
