The Revd Canon Alison Myers, Team Rector of Lordsbridge and Chair of the House of Clergy, has been appointed as Warden of Launde Abbey and priest-in-charge of Loddington with Launde in the Diocese of Leicester.
Her last Sunday in the Lordsbridge Team will be in September, and her licensing date in Leicester will be announced in due course.
Alison served her curacy in Cambourne, before moving to the Lordsbridge Team in 2010, first as Team Vicar, and then as Team Rector since 2017. She was elected as Chair of the House of Clergy in the diocese in 2018, has been an Honorary Canon of the Cathedral since 2019, and is a member of the Bishop’s Council and of the diocesan finance committee.
Bishop Stephen said: “We are richly blessed with Alison’s ministry among us as a fine leader of the Lordsbridge Team, a dedicated chair of the House of Clergy and Member of Bishop’s Council. We benefit hugely from Alison’s clear strategic thinking. She is just such a person that Launde Abbey needs, as it recovers from the pandemic and develops an exciting business plan for the future, which will ensure the flourishing of the Launde Abbey as a place of prayer and hospitality and as a centre for extended Christian community. We pray God’s blessing upon her. We shall miss her”.
The Bishops of Leicester and Peterborough said “We are delighted to welcome Alison as Warden-designate of Launde Abbey and are grateful she has responded to God’s call in this way. Her unique set of experiences and skills, together with her previous knowledge and love of Launde, will be of great value in the coming years as Launde moves into a new chapter of its life post-pandemic. We would like to reiterate our gratitude to all the staff for their work over the challenging last fifteen months, and wish David and Helen Newman every blessing as they move into retirement. We invite you to continue to pray for Launde Abbey as, in the words of the Launde 900 Collect, “with gratitude for the past, we step out with confidence into God’s future”.”
We wish Alison and Boyd well for the move, and every blessing for the future.
