Bishop Stephen is delighted that The Revd Canon Mark Haworth has accepted the invitation to become the next Rural Dean of Ely for two years.
Bishop Stephen is equally delighted that The Revd Canon Jeremy James has agreed to assist him:
Mark will chair Deanery Synod, together with the Lay Chair, assume the legal responsibilities of Rural Dean and oversee the strategic part of the work of a Rural Dean, including development planning, and Jeremy will convene the Chapter and offer pastoral support to the deanery clergy and be known as Assistant Rural Dean.
Mark will be licensed as Rural Dean, and Jeremy commissioned as Assistant Rural Dean, at the Deanery Synod taking place in St Mary’s Church, Ely, on Tuesday, 31st January 2023.
