Volunteer Chaplain – Babraham Research Campus (BRC)

The Granta Deanery (Diocese of Ely) is seeking a volunteer chaplain to serve two days per week at the Babraham Research Campus (BRC). This role is about presence, reflection, and care – offering a non-intrusive, listening ear to staff and visitors of all faiths and none. It builds on the success of Wednesday@, a weekly reflective space hosted at St Peter’s Church, Babraham, and forms part of our wider aspiration to extend chaplaincy across the growing science and innovation parks of South Cambridgeshire.

The chaplain will:

  • Be a visible and trusted presence on campus two days a week (day negotiable).
  • Sustain and develop weekly reflective space.
  • Offer pastoral and spiritual support, signposting where appropriate.
  • Build relationships with researchers, staff, and wellbeing teams.
  • Work alongside the Science Parks Chaplaincy Oversight Group to shape the future of this developing ministry.

Who we’re looking for:
A lay or ordained Christian with a prayerful faith, pastoral gifts, and the ability to engage inclusively with people of all faiths and none. Chaplaincy or pastoral experience is desirable, but not essential – training and support will be provided.

What we offer:

  • Opportunity to shape an exciting new ministry in a world-leading scientific environment.
  • Supportive supervision and expenses reimbursed.
  • A hub base at St Peter’s Church, Babraham.

To express interest or request more details, please contact the Revd Michael Wilcockson, Rural Dean Granta Deanery on michael.wilcockson@elydiocese.org

  • Role Description
  • Closing Date: Applications (via email) by covering letter, application form and two referees welcome until 14 March 2026. Interviews will take place 26 March -  1 April, 2026
