Pupil Iris ran 24 miles in 24 hours to fundraise for children with cancer
On Monday 15 July, the Revd Mandy Flaherty, Diocesan Development Officer for School Mission, presented Iris from Buckden C of E Primary School with a Courageous Advocacy Award.
After recently learning about some of the challenges that children diagnosed with leukaemia would face, Iris was inspired - to challenge herself - to help. Iris pledged her support to the Children with Cancer charity, running 24 miles in 24 hours, getting up on the hour through the night to run a mile each time. She completed her 24 hour challenge in June, with schoolmates, local community and family donating to help her raise a huge total of £2334!
