Luke 6:1 – 7:50

Back to main Luke Study page

The Pharisees had a long list of rules about what you could and couldn’t do on the Sabbath (the holy day of the week). What do you think of the way Jesus responded to them?

Some of the words of Jesus are quite surprising and challenging. Which do you think is more difficult: seeking our reward in heaven rather than riches on earth, or loving our enemies?

Some of the sayings of Jesus are quite funny, like his reference to specks and planks! What do you think he means when he tells us not to judge, but to recognise a tree by its fruit?

What lessons do you take from the story about wise and foolish builders? What can we learn about faith and authority from Jesus’ encounter with the centurion?

These verses ask some challenging questions. Did Jesus really raise the dead? Was Jesus the one we should follow, or should we expect someone else? What do you think?

You can imagine for yourself the sort of “sinful life” that the woman in these verses had lived. How do you feel about Jesus letting her do what she did, and the response of those who saw it?
