Funerals - Information for churches

Funerals - information for churches

The Church of England is still the country’s biggest provider of funerals. But things are changing, with more choices on offer than ever before. These changes present new opportunities to meet needs and share the good news of hope in Jesus Christ at one of life’s most difficult moments.

The latest research and thinking, resources to help at every step, ways to share ideas and the latest news and updates from the National Church of England can be found on the Church Support Hub website.

Churchyards and memorials

Churchyards are special places which exist for both the living and the dead. Together with the church building they are vested in the Incumbent and as consecrated ground they are set apart for the reverent and Christian burial of parishioners.

Guidance and rules governing their upkeep can be downloaded from Church Buildings section of this website here.
