What three things? - January 2026

What three things can you do in January to take your first steps (or more!) as a church on your eco journey?

  1. Treasurers & Church Wardens, the Energy Footprint Tool (EFT) is now open for 2026. If you’re responsible for entering the data, it’s time to gather your energy bills from 2025 and entering it into the system. Completing the EFT is part of our shared journey to net zero - each year’s data builds a clearer picture of carbon use and helps us act more strategically together. Any questions please contact sacha.watson@elydiocese.org.
  2. Vicars & Clergy, completing the EFT is part of our shared journey to net zero - each year’s data builds a clearer picture of carbon use and helps us act more strategically together. Please do what you can to support this process in your church, whether that’s helping to locate bills or encouraging your church community. This work is the ‘unseen but essential’ part of caring for people and creation, helping to combat and mitigate the impact of climate change. It is a way to live out our faith through stewardship of God’s world and show love for our neighbours.
  3. Eco Champions - filling in your church’s EFT will enable your church to make wise, targeted decisions to reduce its carbon footprint. The EFT can help highlight where energy is wasted and may help reduce your energy costs, it also shapes how national net zero funding is allocated and it is now an essential step for your parish to access funding. Please do what you can to support this process in your church.
