Each Deanery has a Deanery Synod, overseen by the Rural Dean and Lay Chair.
The Deanery Synod draws together the thoughts of the Church's life in the Deanery and is asked to consider matters referred to it from the Diocesan Synod and General Synod. It is also a mechanism for where the thoughts of the Parish(es) are initially heard beyond the Parochial Church council (PCC).
Church Representation Rules Governing Deanery Synods
- The rules and guidelines governing Deanery Synods are outlined in Section 3 of the Church Representation Rules (click here).

Deanery Synod Elections
- Elections to each Deanery Synod took place in 2023. Those elected took office on 1 July 2023 and will serve for three years (until the end of June 2026).
- Election(s) to Deanery Synod should take place prior to the election of Parochial Church Council (PCC) members due to Synod representatives becoming ex-officio members of PCCs at the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM).
