All across the country, faith groups are taking part in pilgrimages in support of the COP26 UN Climate Talks. It is becoming increasingly clear that climate change is already happening, and that everyone will be affected. As people of faith, we stand with those in most need – both globally and locally.
Walking or cycling to Glasgow won’t be possible for most of us, so we are taking part in a pilgrimage across part of our Diocese in the week of 28 August to 4 September. We hope to meet up with the relay pilgrimage from Norwich Diocese early in our week, and with others in Peterborough Diocese at the end of our week.
Our final day’s walk is shorter, because we plan to finish at Little Gidding with activities and worship suitable for everyone from the youngest to the oldest, whether they have walked or not.
Who can take part?
- Anyone who would like to walk with us, see us off at the start of a day, or join us at the end.
What do you need to do to take part?
- Turn up at the right time and place! You can let us know that you will be joining us (and then we’ll know to expect you), or you can just turn up.
Do you have to do the whole of a walk?
- No, you can do as little as you wish, but we will only have arranged transport back to the start point from the designated end point.
What do you need to bring?
- Water, appropriate shoes, a waterproof if there’s a chance of rain, a hat, sun screen, any snacks or food you may want. There should be toilets at the start and finish, and we hope that there will be a cup of tea at the end – plus a lift for a car load back to the start to collect vehicles.
