What three things? - September 2026
What three things can you do in September to take your first steps (or more!) as a church on your eco journey?
- 7-11 September is Zero Waste Week - A campaign to encourage householders, businesses, organisations and schools to reduce landfill waste, helping to save money, preserve the planet’s resources and protect the environment. Perhaps pick a theme, such as food waste, plastic packaging, or repairing (find your local repair café here)
- 21 Sept - 4 Oct is Fairtrade Fortnight - Celebrate the difference we can all make when we choose fairer pay, fairer treatment and fairer futures. “Every financial decision is an investment in one kind of future or another. This applies whether you are a government, a huge corporation, one of the super rich, or just someone popping to the shops for some groceries. Every buying decision, on every scale, supports some supply chains and rejects others.” (Mike Berners-Lee, There Is No Planet B).
- 27 September is World Rivers Day - Celebrate the world’s waterways and those local to you at this time when these arteries of our planet are threatened with pollution and habitat loss. Plan your own event or activity, perhaps a river clean up or support a local community river group.
