What three things? - April 2026

What three things can you do in April to take your first steps (or more!) as a church on your eco journey?

  1. 22 April is Earth Day. Established in 1970, Earth Day 2026 calls people “to stand shoulder to shoulder in defence of the only home we share”. Resources to help you organise or join an event, or to find ways to take action for the planet, Earth Hub has free toolkits and ideas, designed for students, families, workplaces, faith groups, and communities everywhere.
  2. 29 April is Stop Food Waste Day. With 33% of food produced globally lost or wasted every year and food waste contributing 8% of all greenhouse gas emissions each year, we can all make a difference by raising awareness and changing our behaviour to reduce food waste in the world. Download the toolkit here.
  3. Complete the Energy Footprint Tool for your church. Every footprint we leave behind shapes God’s creation. Recording your energy use is an unseen but essential act of caring for people and the planet. By measuring and reducing energy use, we take practical steps to combat the impact of climate change and live out our calling to love our neighbours. Completing the EFT is a simple but powerful way to support the Church of England’s shared journey to net zero. Each year’s data builds a clearer picture of our carbon footprint and helps us act more strategically together.
