In communities that are increasingly fragmented and polarised, how can the Church articulate a compelling vision for the common good, social justice, and solidarity with our neighbour? This one-day symposium brings together theologians, practitioners, and thought leaders to reflect on the Church’s role within contemporary public life. Together, we will engage with some of the most pressing challenges shaping our societies today—welfare and economic justice, national identity and political landscapes, community flourishing, and the future of public faith. Through conversation, reflection, and shared insight, the symposium seeks to explore how Christian social thought can contribute to renewed hope, deeper solidarity, and a more just and compassionate social order.

This event is organised in partnership with The Church Times, the Common Good programme at St John’s College, University of Cambridge, and the Diocese of Ely.
