This policy calls upon all members of the church as the body of Christ to deepen their own commitment and practice in Caring for Creation as part of their Christian discipleship. It is a core part of the mission and ministry of the Church, contributing to all Five Marks of Mission.
Diocesan Synod approved an environment policy in Autumn 2025, which was in development for many months beforehand, including consultations with relevant groups. The policy is aimed at both the diocese at large and at Ely Diocesan Board of Finance. There are a number of detailed policies for the EDBF and some more general ones that parishes and schools are encouraged to take up. This summary guide outlines those policies that are particularly applicable to parishes and schools in the hope that they will adopt and follow them in their own work. You might wish to print out the poster and display it.
This autumn we hope Diocesan Synod will approve an Action Plan that develops the actions that are needed to put the policy into effect. Each action is allocated to identified staff and is given a target date for achievement.
