We were sorry to hear of the death on 27 April 2026 of The Rev’d Canon Robert Stephenson and remember wife Sheila and wider family in our prayers.

Born in 1936
He trained for ordination at St Chad’s College Durham from 1968 gaining a BA and was deaconed 1960 and Priested 1961
In Durham Diocese, he served as a curate at Whickham 1960-63 and Gateshead St Mary 1963-65. He became perpetual Curate Low Team St Paul’s 1965-67 and Rector of St Cuthberts, Stella 1967-74.
He moved to Ely Diocese to be Vicar of Comberton 1974-04 and Priest-in-Charge St Peter and St Paul, Dry Drayton 1997-01, serving as RD of Bourn 1994-97.
He was made a Hon Canon of Ely Cathedral in 2001 retiring in 2004.
He held PTO in Ely Diocese 2013-18.
