We were sorry to hear of the death on 26 March 2026 of Rev’d Canon David Pitcher. We offer David’s family our sympathy, love and prayers in their bereavement.
Born in 1933, David trained for ministry at Ely Theological College from 1955, being ordained deacon in 1958 and priest in 1959
He served as Curate at Kingsford St Mary in Lichfield Diocese from 1958-61 and at Kirkby in Liverpool Diocese from 1961-66.
Moving to Norwich Diocese, he served as Rector of Ingham with Sutton from 1966-72 and Vicar of Lakenham St Joseph from 1972-76. He later served in St Eds and Ips as Rector of Framlingham with Saxted from 1976-91, Rector of Woodbridge St Mary 1991-99 and was RD from 1982-89. He was made Hon Canon of St Eds from 1985 until he retired in 1999. He held PTO in St Eds from 2000 until he moved to Cambridge in recent times.
